Aya Koussa is a north African architect born and raised in Algeria. Aya has mathematic Baccalaureate, and a management certificate, she is seriously related to her tradition and hopes to find a way to keep the old, Mediterranean features in her projects. Aya chose architecture because she always wanted to create something for the world to remember her once she is gone and architecture gave her that, Aya loves to be around her friends and family and so when she creates a project, she takes calm and fun into consideration. Her family helped her so much in achieving her goals. “At young age I had the opportunity to travel and visit some amazing places which helped me gain a lasting love and fascination about architecture.” As she mentioned. The Algerian diversity of culture was one of the main things that inspired her to become an architect and try to protect the special features in Algerian houses as you may know   The North African country of Algeria is a melting pot of influences, due to strategic position the old major military powers would do their utmost to gain control over it. As a result, Algeria has seen Phoenician, Roman, Vandal, Byzantine, Arab, Turk and French invasion, each leaving their own distinctive influence on the country. This blending of cultures has given way to a fantastic cultural diversity, much of which still exists today.
