Architect that inspire me : ludwig mies van der rohe

 ludwig mies van der rohe

Ludwig sought to establish his own architectural style that could represent modern times. His buildings made use of modern materials such as industrial steel and plate glass to define interior spaces. He is often associated with his fondness for the aphorisms "less is more".

After world war one, the classical styles gained a good cultural credibility a disaster widely seen as a failure of the old world order of imperial leadership of Europe. The aristocratic classical revival styles were particularly reviled by many as the architectural symbol of a now-discredited and outmoded social system. Progressive thinkers called for a completely new architectural design process guided by rational problem-solving and an exterior expression of modern materials and structure rather than what they considered the superficial application of classical facades.

Mies van der Rohe was commissioned by the Weimar Republic to create the building for the International Exposition in Barcelona; its aim was to evince a progressive, democratic, and modern post-World War Germany, a decade on from the traumas of the war and the resulting Treaty of Versailles. The pavilion was intended to be the site of the German section of the exhibition, that would host the King of Spain and a troop of German officials at the inauguration of the exposition—and thereby show the world Germany’s new architecture, represented through the space.

  2. When you paraphrase or summarise you express somebody else's ideas or theories in your own words. Paraphrasing is not a direct quote, so there is no need to include quotation marks or page numbers. However, you do need to list the name of the author and the date of publication directly after the paraphrase. For example: ( The New York Times, 1969)
